"Israeli Airstrikes Target Damascus: What's The Prophetic Significance?"

There are two kinds of Bible prophecy: fulfilled prophecy and prophecy awaiting fulfillment. What God has decreeded will surely come about. Every prophetic utterance that has not yet taken place will, in God's time, be fulfilled to the letter (see 2 Peter 3:9).

Damascus, with its population of 2 million, is the capital of Syria and ranks among the oldest cities in the world. The history of Dasmascus is one of upheaval, bloodshed, invading armies, destruction, rebuilding, and more destruction.

It's true Dasmascus has been conquered, knocked down, and counted out many times, but it has never stayed down. Like the mytholgical Phoenix, Damascus has always managed to rise again from the ashes.

Twenty-five hundred years ago, the Hebrew prophet Isaiah propheised of the final destruction of Damascus: "Behold, Dasmascus shall cease to be a city, and shall become a ruined heap" (ISAIAH 17:1).

Most scholars place this final destruction just prior to the 7 years of tribulation.

Why? Because Ezekiel predicts a last days surprise attack against Israel (Ezekiel 38) that involves a Russian-led alliance of nations including Iran, but excluding Syria.

In fact, Syria isn't numbered among any of the various protagonists prophesied to participate in the conflicts of the last days.

This week, Israel carried out airstrikes in Syria, specifically targeting the capital of Damascus.

Though Israel's MO is to keep their mouths shut, reports say there is a Syrian military complex developing WMDs along with chemical and biological weapons for use in a future confrontation with Israel.

And while Damascus is still one of the world's oldest inhabited cities going back thousands of years, Isaiah says that may be about to change.

A wise man once said: "Damascus is an ancient city, but in all of its lifespan it has never been wiped out. Are we seeing--in our day--the stage being set for Damascus to be obliterated like the Bible says--where no human will be able to live there again? Something's gonna happen in Damascus." --Jack Hibbs, senior pastor CCCH

"Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the Kingdom of God is near. Truly, I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away untill all these things have happened, Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away" (LUKE 21:31,32).

"Are We The End Time Generation?"

According to a recent Pew Research Poll, 39% of all U.S. adults believe we are now living in the 'end-times'.

The report went on to say:

"Periods of catastrophe and anxiety such as the coronavirus pandemic, have historically led some people to anticipate that the destruction of the world as we know it-the 'end times'-is near. This thinking often has a religious component that draws on sacred scripture. In Christianity, for example, these beliefs include expectations that Jesus will return to Earth after or amid a time of great turmoil."

True enough. Throughout history a certain percentage of people have always thought the end was near.

So what makes this time different?

Israel back in the land, for starters. The Bible is very clear: Israel must be regathered as a nation again before the end times can commence. (see Eziekiel 36:8; Matthew 24:32-35). This prophecy was fulfilled in 1948. After two thousand years of nonexistence, Israel became a nation again and the end time countdown clock began to tick.

And while the restoration of Israel is the single most important sign we are living in the end times, it is not the only sign.

"The Bible prophesies of many events that will occur in the end times," contends GotQuestions.org.

"These events can be categorized as natural signs, spiritual signs, socialogical signs, technological signs, and political signs. We can look to what the Bible says about these things, and, if the signs are present in abundance we can be certain we are, in fact, living in the end times."

Luke 21:11 lists some of the natural signs like earthquakes, famines, pandemics and natural disasters. First and Second Thessalonians and First and Second Timothy predict a great rebellion against God. Spiritual apostacy and deception will lead many to depart from the truth and follow lying spirits. Heresy, occultism and pagan religions will thrive, while true Christianity (as opposed to the many pseudo "christians" & churches that do not follow the Word of God) will be mocked, ridiculed and persecuted. Socialogically, immorality will run rampant and the ways of God as taught in Scripture will be considered hateful. Technology and politics will be used against the masses to decieve, kill and control them. And finally, all these signs (and many more) will begin gradually, like birth pains, growing closer together & more intense, until they are all happening everywhere at once, on a global scale.

So, are we living in the end times? Watch this 5 minute video and judge for yourself.

A wise man once said: "The truth is, we are a privileged generation. We see with our own eyes the fulfillment of prophecies from ages past. We live in a time when God is on the move in special and unique ways. Do not fear the times." - Hal Lindsey, author

"This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed" (HABAKKUK 2:3).

"So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be sober" (1 THESSALONIANS 5:6).

"Does The Bible Predict End Time Hyper-inflation?"

If the Bible does not speak directly about a global economic collapse, why have prophecy teachers always taught there would be one? Because, just as the doctrine of the Trinity is never spelled out for us, it is undeniably there. An economic collapse is there too--by implication.

One only has to read the Book of Revelation to get a glimpse of what's coming. There will be wars, pestilence, famine and terrible natural disasters, like massive earthquakes, unprecedented drought, heatwaves, and humungus hailstones. Revelation 6 releases the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse; #3 mentions food prices:
"When the Lamb broke the third seal, I heard the third living being say, "Come!" And I looked up and saw a black horse, and its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. And a voice from among the four living beings said, "A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley for a day's pay. And don't waste the olive oil and wine."
This rider on the black horse takes prosperity from the earth and replaces it with famine and hyperinflation.

The Book of James doesn't mince words when it says in Chapter 5:
"Look here, you rich people, weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. Your wealth is rotting away and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. Your gold and silver have become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh in hell. This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you in the last days."
These Scriptures (among others) paint a bleak economic picture, but Revelation 13:16-17 is the clincher:
"He (Antichrist) required everyone--great and small, rich and poor, slave or free--to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no one could buy or sell anything with out that mark..."

Well, we don't know about you-but most people would probably balk at giving up their money in exchange for a mark...unless, of course, their money didn't cut the mustard anymore. The Bible makes it clear these judgments will encompass the entire planet. Who could have guessed 2,000 years ago we'd end up with a global economy?

As chaotic as the world seems already, it's important to remember that all the "signs" the Bible says will characterize the 7 years of Tribulation are here on a global scale right now.

But before the Tribulation can begin God must evacuate His ambassadors-His Bride, the Church. There are no signs for that. The evacuation (or Rapture) of the Church will take the world completely by surprise and then comes seven years of God's judgment on an unbelieving, God-rejecting, unsaved world that treated the sacrificial blood of His Son as something worthless.

And while we have no idea how much time remains before the Church is taken (it could be years, it could be seconds) we do know this: The time to get ready is now.

Playing Russian roulette with your eternal destiny is nothing less than insanity.

A wise man once said: "Recently, the United States, UK, Australia, Germany and other nations began withdrawing their personnel from Ukraine. They did this believing that Russia was about to invade that country and they wanted to get their people out of harms way. The Rapture will happen for similar reasons. God will remove His people from planet Earth before the greatest calamities begin." - Hal Lindsey, author
"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close in on you suddenly like a trap" (LUKE 21:34).

"Happiness At 50 Year Low"

Everyone wants to be happy--but according to a recent study--almost no one is.

Americans are more unhappy today than they've been in almost 50 years.

This survey, funded by the National Science Foundation, and conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago, found that only 14% of American adults identify as being very happy.

That's an all-time low in a study that's been collecting data on American attitudes and behaviors since 1972.

And get this--most of the survey's interviews were completed last month before any of the following had even happened:

  • the murder of George Floyd that touched off nationwide rage
  • the riots/looting and anarchy that followed
  • the demands to defund or even abolish the police
  • the full economic impact of 44 million job losses
  • the bankrupting of millions of small/medium -sized businesses

That's right people, this survey was completed back in the day when our biggest problem was dodging the virus and even then we saw a massive surge in suicide, alcohol and drug abuse.

If we've learned anything from the past few weeks and months it is this--happiness is fragile. And while none of us  knows how long this current crisis will last, we do know that today, more than any other time in the history of man, events are occurring that foreshadow things to come exactly as predicted in the Bible.

The alignment of nations; the collapse of law and order; the lies and deceptions and the weakening influence of our leaders to control the masses, are just a few of the indicators of the era directly preceding the return of Christ.

So what are we trying to say? Being unhappy is the least of our problems. God is sending a wake-up call that even the dimmest among us can't possibly miss.

According to Got Questions.org the message God is sending is this:
"Repent and turn your life around. Make a conscious decision to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (MATTHEW 6:33). The meaning of this verse is as direct as it sounds. We are to seek the things of God as a priority over the things of the world...believers who have learned to truly put God first may then rest in the promise...and all these things (like love, joy, peace) will be given to you as well, then, whether Jesus comes for you at the Rapture or at your death, you will be ready for an eternity of pure joy."
"...what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty" (PSALM 32:2).

A wise man once said: "According to the Bible, if you know God and discover His plan for your life, you will find the happiness you're searching for. It doesn't come from seeking to be happy in and of itself. It comes from knowing and seeking the God who created you and discovering His plan and purpose for your life." -- Greg Laurie, Harvest Christian Fellowship
"See, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to repay all according to their deeds" (REVELATION 22:12).

"Is Coronavirus A Sign Of The End Times?"

"Jesus often described the End Times as being like 'birth pangs'", writes Dr. Roger Barrier in his article God and Coronavirus: Is It a Sign of the End Times?"

"Just as labor pains grow stronger and closer together, God will allow escalation in trials of all kinds to bring men to Christ. In fact, the purpose of the Tribulation itself is to bring pressure for men to surrender to Jesus and find salvation."

And while there have always been trials and tribulations, they did not represent 'birth pangs' until God brought the Jews back to the Promised Land in 1948, and the first (and last) generation of Jews were born in the miraculously resurrected Holy Land.

So to be clear, "Birth pangs, in terms of Bible prophecy, refers to certain convulsive geopolitical, geophysical, astrophysical and world-wide socio-economic events and issues scheduled to occur in the time leading up to Jesus Christ's Second Advent (second coming),' according to raptureready.com.

Top 10 Signs or Birth Pangs:

  1. Israel-a nation born in one day-ISAIAH 66:6-9
  2. A global government/economic system beginning to form-UN, global trade agreements, etc. DANIEL 2,7,8,9,11; REVELATION 13,17,18
  3. Apostasy-people turning away from the true faith to embrace a false one-REVELATION 13; 2 THESSALONIANS 4
  4. Nations aligning for prophetic fulfillment-EZEKIEL 38-39
  5. End Time technology-DANIEL 12:4; REVELATION 13:16-17; 18
  6. False prophets, false teachers-MATTHEW 24:4-5; 2 TIMOTHY 4:3-4
  7. Global distress- natural disasters LUKE 21:25
  8. Epidemics, earthquakes, famines-(MATTHEW 24; LUKE 21)
  9. Violence upon the earth-(LUKE 17:26; GENESIS 6:11,13; MARK 13)
  10. Signs in sun, moon, stars-(LUKE 21; MATTHEW 24; MARK 13)
If you were to read all the prophetic Scriptures, as well as LUKE 21 (or MATTHEW 24 or MARK 13) you would see a progression of events--like birth pangs--that start slowly and grow stronger over an entire generation.

In MATTHEW 24, Jesus gives a series of signs to watch out for and then says,
"Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its buds become tender and its leaves begin to sprout, you know without being told that summer is near. Just so, when you see the events I've described beginning to happen, you can know His return is very near, right at the door. I assure you, this generation will not pass from the scene before all these things take place."
Which generation was Jesus referring to? The one that sees the signs beginning with the resurrection of the nation of Israel in 1948.

A wise man once said: "Scholars in Bible Prophecy believe that although the world isn't yet in that prophesied time or unprecedented horror, the stage is being set. The birth pangs are already felt. Christians are commanded by Jesus to watch for the birth pang-like developments." -- Rapture Ready
"What I say to one, I say to all: Watch." (MARK 13:37).
