"God Has A Message For You"

In his classic commentary on The Book of Revelation, What The World Is Coming To, the late Chuck Smith, founder of Calvary Chapel states:

"The world is moving toward its zero hour. We're in the final countdown...The "birth-pains" have begun." (Matthew 24:8; Mark 13:8).
Doom & gloom? You betcha--if the birth-pains (or doom & gloom) were the only message.

"The Book of Revelation delves into grave details using remarkable symbols of judgment," proclaims S. Douglas Woodward of Faith-Happens. "Each broken seal discloses a new horror; each trumpet portends a new calamity; each vial grows increasingly more horrible."

"If we dwell on these images of doom, no doubt we too would become gloomy," cautions Woodward. "Nevertheless, the Bible consistently offers a starkly contrasted message: the greatest day for those who believe in Christ, comes on the worst day for those that don't."

In other words, the doom & gloom has a purpose. For the unbeliever, these "birth-pains" are a warning: seek God while He may be found; receive the redemption His Son suffered and died to purchase for you before it's too late.

For the believer and student of Bible prophecy, these same birth-pains are an amazing, faith-building, fear-of-God producing, awe-inspiring wonder to watch as events unfold exactly as God said they would in His word.

Remember, the purpose of Bible prophecy is not to predict the future, but to authenticate the message.

And what is the main message of the Bible?

Hope! God is the creator of everything. He has a plan and a purpose to redeem not only those of us who believe that Jesus died in our place and rose again as our Savior, but His entire creation as well.
"Now we live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose again from the dead. For God has reserved a priceless inheritance for His children...It will be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead..." (1PETER 1:3-6).
Eventually, there will be a new heaven and a new earth where everything (including us) must be born again. But first, like any birth--there are birth pains.

A wise man once said: "Night is coming...a darkness that will cover this globe in suffering and sorrow such as we have never known. But we must not sit and wring our hands about the state of the world. God has provided a way to escape the coming night. Now is the time to tell everyone about the hope of a brand new world waiting for us." -- David Jeremiah, author
"So I pray that God who gives you hope, will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in Him. May you overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit." (ROMANS 15:13).

"Rampage: A Sign Of The Times?"

"Don't you understand what is going on right now?" asked former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino.

In an interview with "Fox & Friends" on Monday, Bongino maintained the violence sweeping across the nation in response to the death of George Floyd is more than an expression of outrage against racism and injustice.

"This is not about George Floyd anymore. Gosh, I wish it was. We had a sincere moment of national unity where everyone agreed, even our police officers, that this was abhorrent," Bongino said.

"Who's talking about that now? Nobody. We're talking about an insurrection. This is not a joke, this has to stop now...they need to get a lid on this stat, or this is not gonna end well."

Bongino believes the far-left group Antifa has infiltrated the protesters and we are seeing the beginnings of an insurrection.

Bongino said he's been told "known Antifa leadership is there" organizing riots.

"This is a sophisticated insurrection-type attack trying to take down the seat of our government," Bongino said.

According to World Net Daily: "Over the weekend, more than 50 (upgraded to 60+) Secret Service agents were injured in protests just outside the White House. Many of the injuries were from rioters throwing bottles. But police also reported finding cars in the area planted with incendiary material."

President Trump and his family were rushed into the bunker under the White House for protection.

Bongino said Attorney General Bill Barr and the President "need to legally decapitate Antifa today. We need a high-profile, FBI arrest right now. We need full mobilization of our National Guards in every state. I don't care if you're in Wyoming or downtown Miami. We have to shut this down now...Antifa and these criminals have declared war on civility and the constitutional republic...this is not a protest anymore, it's an insurrection..."

Meanwhile, Matthew 24 warns that as the day of Christ draws near, nation will rise against nation. The original Greek word translated "nation" is "ethnos", from which we get our word "ethnic."

So is Jesus warning we will see ethnic group rise against ethnic group (as well as wars and insurrections) with greater frequency and intensity the closer we get to the 7 years of Tribulation? Looks like it.

A wise man once said: "As Christians, the greatest weapon and the most powerful defense we have is prayer. Our country needs prayer in a critical way...Pray for peace." -- Franklin Graham
And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come ."  (MATTHEW 24:10-14)

"Time of the Signs: Zero Hour"

Is it just us, or have you noticed a quickening in the news cycle, too? Wash, rinse, repeat...one crisis after another with each one seemingly worse than the last.

In his classic commentary on The Book of Revelation, What The World Is Coming To, the late Chuck Smith, founder of Calvary Chapel states:

"Prophetic Warning Signs"

Many Bible scholars agree the prophetic end-of-the-age clock began ticking when the Jews returned to the land of Israel.

This event, prophesied throughout the Old Testament (see Ezekiel 37:21 for an example), was fulfilled in 1948.

After that, the Bible describes a time of what it calls 'birth pains'. Things like:

  • spiritual deception
  • wars
  • famines
  • pestilences
  • earthquakes
  • distress of nations
These birth pains, known as the 'beginning of sorrows', will increase gradually in frequency and intensity as this present age labors to give birth to the next.

This time of sorrows will lead directly into a seven-year period referred to by scholars as the 70th Week of Daniel (Daniel 9:24).

This will be a time of terrible tribulation featuring pretty much every horrible thing you can imagine (and a few beyond your imagination).

In Matthew 24:32-35 and again in Luke 21:29-33, Jesus warns His disciples to watch for the signs He described.
"...When you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place..." (Luke 21: 31, 32 emphasis added).

The million dollar question? What generation?

The footnote in our Nelson Study Bible reads:
"The most likely meaning of this verse is that when the end comes, it will come quickly. The events of the end times will fall within one generation from start to finish."

So, if the prophetic clock started ticking in 1948 when the Jews got their homeland back, that leads us to...

The next Big Question: How long is a generation?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO?) and the Global Health Observatory (GHO):
"Seventy years is the average life expectancy at birth of the global population in 2011."
While these are definitely things that make us go hmmm...

We can't know for sure when Jesus is coming. We can recognize the importance of watching. Jesus warned:
"But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectantly" (Luke 21:34).

As the world grows darker, the Christian's hope grows brighter. Why? Because Jesus also said:
"Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near" (Luke 21:28 emphasis added).
A wise man once said: "Now, today, this moment, is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It will not last forever. We must take it or leave it." - C. S. Lewis
