"Global Trends: 2040?"

"In December 2024, the U.S. President-elect will receive Global Trends 2040, the seventh edition in the National Intelligence Council (NIC) series aimed at providing a framework for thinking about the future," says the NIC.

Good to know someone is planning ahead--but how can they "look" two decades into the future?

"We identify global drivers and estimate their impact," says the NIC. They use worldwide meetings with a range of experts who put their heads together and gaze into the future based on present trends and what they see as possible "global trajectories".

Trends examined include:
  • economics
  • security
  • geopolitics (among many others)
The experts from scores of countries and a variety of fields then put on their thinking caps and try to produce a comprehensive picture of the world in 2040 (with many "updates", of course).

Seem ambitious?

Not when compared to Bible prophecy.

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is woven with  predictions. In fact, more than 1/4 of the Bible is prophecy. Most of them (roughly 80%) have already been fulfilled with 100% accuracy. (Remember, God uses prophecy to authenticate the Bible. If the prophetic scriptures prove true, and history tells us they do, then we can also trust what the Bible teaches about Jesus & the only way of salvation.)

The remaining 20% of unfulfilled prophecy will probably be fulfilled in our lifetime as every major player and global trend continues to fall into place--exactly as the Bible predicts. For instance:

Who could have guessed two thousand years ago that the tiny nation of Israel (which no longer existed) would be regathered and reborn (fulfilled in 1948) only to be attacked again & again (with the battle of Gog and Magog described in Ez. 38 &39 still pending)?

And who would ever guess that the victim of these attacks would be the target of so much hatred merely for trying to defend itself?

And finally, no one but God has predicted that little Israel (the subject of hundreds of fulfilled & very detailed prophecies) will be ground zero when it comes to the 'true' war to end all wars--Armageddon--but it will.

So, if you want to know what the future really holds, study the Bible.

The NIC could save a lot of time and effort by simply handing the U.S. policymakers a copy of the Bible. At least they'd be sure of its accuracy.

A wise man once said: "When the number of factors coming into play in a phenomenological complex is too large, scientific method in most cases fails. One need only think of the weather, in which case the prediction even a few days ahead is impossible." --Albert Einstein
"However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries..." (DANIEL 2:28)
"I am God, and there is no one else like Me. Only I can tell you what is going to happen even before it happens." (ISAIAH 46:9-10).

"The Most Terrifying Bible Prophecy"

See the source image

Every year the soothsayers crawl out of the woodwork with their predictions and every year the masses eat it up. But the Bible? Not so much. And yet:

  • The Bible is the only prophetic book there is.
  • The Bible is actually a compilation of books that tell the future in very specific and detailed prophecies that God uses to authenticate His authorship.
  • The Bible reveals God's plan for mankind from the very beginning to the very end.
The result? The Bible proves God's existence, His purpose, His great love for mankind and the great lengths He went to in order to save us from an eternity separated from Him.

The problem? Most people will never bother to read the Bible.

As every major player and global trend continues to fit into place exactly as the Bible predicts, we believe the prophecy detailed in 1 Thessalonians 5: 2-3 may come in our lifetime:
"For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When people are saying, 'All is well; everything is peaceful and secure', then disaster will fall upon them as suddenly as a woman's birth pains begin when her child is about to be born. And there will be no escape."
We're living in an age of deception filled with false doctrine, fabricated science and fake news. The scariest thing about deception is, when it's done well, we don't know we're being deceived.

The Bible warns against end-time deception that will accelerate once the church is taken out of the way and the Master Deceiver arrives on the scene.
"The coming of the lawless one (aka The Antichrist) is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness" (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).
Ultimately, God will give people what they want. If you don't want God now--don't assume you'll want Him later.
"Behold now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2).
A wise man once said: "If you're not grounded in the Scriptures you'll be swept away by the deception that's coming." -- Jack Hibbs, senior pastor Calvary Chapel Chino Hills

"Global Trends:15 Years in Advance?"

The National Intelligence Council (NIC) introduced Global Trends 2015 way back in the fall of 1999.

The purpose? To predict the future. (Yes indeedy, friends and neighbors, our tax dollars have been hard at work!) using the analysis of:

  • academia
  • think tanks
  • the corporate world
Former CIA Director George Tenet launched this ambitious project enthusiastically declaring,
"Global Trends 2015, which takes a look at the world over the next 15 years (2000-2015) from the perspective of the national security policymaker. This is not a traditional intelligence assessment, depending on classified sources and methods. Rather, it reflects an intelligence community fully engaged with outside experts in a constructive dialogue about the future."
So far, so good. It truly is remarkably accurate (granted, they expected more global-warming than actually materialized, but at least there were no flying cars). Then...just as you think you're out of the woods...there's more.

Waaaay at the end, buried in the appendix, are four Alternative Global Futures...four Alternative Trajectories if you will.

Each scenario highlights "key uncertainties, discontinuities, and unlikely or 'wild card' events": from the use of WMDs to a global pandemic, we're sorry to say, none of these "alternative" scenarios bode well for the good guys.

But guess what gang--every one of these "wild card" events (and more) are suggested in Bible prophecy.

Like what, you ask?

Read Ezekiel 39:11-16. If that isn't describing a military protocol for burying bodies contaminated by WMD--#we'll eat our hats.

Zechariah 14:12 gives a very graphic idea of what may be the end result of using a modern weapon:
"...something so powerful and so sudden it will burn away flesh, eyes, and tongues while people are yet standing upon their feet." (from Atomic Bombs in the Bible).
Then there's Matthew 24 featuring:

  • wars
  • famines
  • pestilences
  • earthquakes
And that's just a small sample of coming attractions--time does not permit us to go into the book of Revelation or the many other prophecies detailed throughout Scripture.

Our point? If trends analysts and think tanks believe these "wild card" events are possible, how much more should we believe God's word?
"Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall become white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."  Isaiah 1:18
A wise man once said: "'The phrase 'Let us reason together' is a legal term.God is prepared to pardon our sins if we repent and turn to Him. He can forgive us based on the payment for sin in the death of the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." -- Andrew Hill, Ph.D.
