"Suicide Via Science?"

A U.S. lab has been accused of "playing with fire" after it created a hybrid COVID "super-strain" with a kill rate of 80% when tested on mice.

"Boston University scientists combined Omnicron and the original Wuhan strain, despite the fact that sort of research is what is thought to be behind the COVID pandemic," reports The Daily Mail.

Crazy? Yes, according to Israeli top scientist Professor Shmuel Shapira. "This should be totally forbidden, it's playing with fire."

Dr. Richard Ebright, a chemist at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, agrees.

"The research is a clear example of gain of function research. If we are to avoid a next lab-generated pandemic, it is imperative that oversight of enhanced potential pandemic pathogen research be strengthened."

The problem? Oversight has not been strengthened and the Bible predicts pandemics will be part of the end time scenario. Apparently, what happens in Wuhan, doesn't stay in Wuhan.

As humanity has learned the hard way with COVID and SARS-CoV-2, if you build it, it will leak. "Prophecy Bomb"

"Matthew, Chapter 24 is one of the most significant, prophecy-loaded passages in the entire New Testament," says prophecy teacher Randal Ross.

"It comes during the final week of Jesus' life. He knows that the agony of the cross looms just ahead. And here, while His focus is fixed firmly on eternal matters, His disciples want to party and talk politics," Ross says.

"Jesus is focusing on Calvary, trying to prepare Himself for inevitable death--His earthly destiny--and His disciples just don't get it."

"That's when Jesus drops the prophecy bomb," says Ross.

 "More than cryptically-coded predictions about famines, wars, pestilence, and deceptions, Matthew 24 contains vital information for a pathway of safety through the End Times."

In other words: Matthew 24 is not meant to frighten us. Its purpose is to enlighten us and to prepare us for what will surely come.

 "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect" (Matthew 24:42-44).

Whether it's the hour of our death or the resurrection of the saints, we can't know when Jesus is coming for us. But rest assured--He is coming.

So how can we be ready?

Second Corinthians tells us to examine ourselves to be sure we're in the faith. And with good reason.

Many, Jesus said, who believe they are saved are in for a nasty surprise.

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord', shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven" (Matthew 7:21).

What?! You mean there's more to salvation than just believing Jesus existed?

You bet there is.

We must be living our lives based on a proper relationship to Christ that is ongoing. A decision made in the past that has not radically transformed us will not cut it.

The key?

We must be 'born again'.

"Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3). 

The new birth, or regeneration refers to the work of the Holy Spirit. True repentance and the continual process of Christian living is enabled by the Holy Spirit, resulting in growth in character and good works" (Titus 3).

Jesus said the Holy Spirit is like the wind--invisible--though everyone can see evidence of it. Likewise, if the Holy Spirit is really living in us, there will be evidence. So let's continually examine ourselves to be sure we're in the faith since we can't know when He will come for us.

"And how  can we be sure that we belong to Him? By obeying His commandments. If someone says, 'I belong to God', but doesn't obey God's commandments, that person is a liar and does not live in truth. But those who obey God's word really do love Him. That is the way to know whether or not we live in Him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did" (1John 2:3-6).

"Strange End Times Phenomena?"

There is a fine line between reporting on news that relates to Bible prophecy and what most would consider odd phenomena. Today we're going to walk that tightrope.

We're all familiar with the usual signs to watch out for from Matthew 24:

• wars
• earthquakes
• famines
• pestilence

But Luke 21:11 says, "there will be fearful sights..." (some translations say 'terrifying things') "...and great signs from heaven." That's rather broad, don't you think? Lots of things could fit into that category.

In fact, a wide variety of cosmic and natural events are slated to occur before the end times and, you guessed it gang, weird stuff is happening right now. Yes indeedy, friends and neighbors, freaky stuff is going on all over the planet. Consider:

• Since 2011, strange sounds have been heard across the globe. From Arizona to New Zealand reports of noises described as humming or rumbling coming from the skies. Some even hear what sounds like trumpets.
• Hundreds of others claim ground shaking booms seem to be coming from the earth.
• Remember the guy swallowed by a sinkhole, bed and all in Florida? Well, giant sinkholes have opened up all over the world. We're taking humongous holes, people--big enough to swallow several houses and at least one lake!
• And then there's the animal deaths. Hundreds of birds falling dead from the sky. Washed-up whales, dolphins, Manta rays and massive fish kills as far as the eye can see on beaches throughout the world.
• Egypt was hit by swarms of locust the size of small birds. Florida has monster mosquitoes 20 times larger than normal. Iran is plagued with rats as big as cats weighing in at a nightmarish 11 pounds!
• And what about last February's meteorite? It streaked across the Siberian sky and then hit ground in Russia like an atomic blast! We seem to recall another very close encounter with an asteroid that very same day, along with multiple fireballs all across Florida and San Francisco (no connection, says NASA).
• Speaking of Russia, February 6th saw four separate volcanoes, 100 miles apart, erupt at the same time. Unprecedented.
• Oh, and who can forget the lightening strike at St. Peter's Basilica only hours after Pope Benedict announced his resignation? Talk about freaky!

And then there's this:

• Scientists have warned that society as we know it, may be disrupted by an intense solar flare predicted to erupt from the sun's surface in 2013.

There have been tons of other stuff, some too weird to comment on, others conventional, yet still worth mentioning, such as wild weather events, floods, droughts, and:

• Solomon Island's 8.0 quake
• 7.8 Iran quake
• 7.5 Alaska quake
• and six other quakes in the first 4 months that all topped 7.0 in magnitude
• and, as always, the seemingly ever-present situations in Iran, Syria, and Israel

But take heart. Jesus said, "Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near" Luke 21:28.(emphasis added)
