"The Last Enemy"

See the source image
"We shouldn't be surprised that history's most important event is also its most spectacular," contends N.T. Wright, a conservative theologian.

And what might that be, you ask? The Resurrection, of course. And yet, a Psephizo poll found that barely 60% of those who identify as Christian (but do not attend church) believe in it.

In his book, The Last Enemy, Michael E. Whittmer boldly insists The Resurrection is the single most profound fact of Christianity.

"The Resurrection is more than the defining miracle that proves Jesus is God and the Gospel is true. Paul declares that The Resurrection is a vital piece of the Gospel in 1st Corinthians:
"And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless, and you are still under condemnation for your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ have perished! And if we have hope in Christ only for this life, we are the most miserable people in the world" (1 Corinthians 15:17-19).
So is The Resurrection of Jesus Christ a real, historical event?

"Archaeological discoveries continue to support the Bible's historical accuracy," writes Jack Zavada in his article, 7 Proofs of the Resurrection. "We tend to forget that the Gospels and the book of Acts are eyewitness accounts of the life and death of Jesus. And that includes the crowd of more than 500 eyewitnesses who saw the risen Lord all at the same time, most of whom were still alive when these accounts were written."

Zavada details the many non-biblical historical 1st Century writers that testify to the events surrounding The Resurrection, as well: Flavius Josephus, Cornelius Tacitus, Lucian of Samosata and even the Jewish Sanhedrin, to name a few.

The bottom line? If The Resurrection didn't happen, neither did our salvation.
"But the fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead. He has become the first of a great harvest of those who will be raised to life again" (1 Corinthians 15:20).
A wise man once said: "The Last Enemy is death. You can't beat death, but you know someone who has. Rest in Jesus, the God who shared your humanity so He might destroy death from the inside out." -- Michael E. Whittmer

"3 Steps to a Perfect Body"

"Millions have lost weight on NutriSystem and you can too!" says the NutriSystem TV spot featuring Marie Osmond (in her new "perfect" body).

But let's face it gang--most Americans will do anything to lose weight...except (you guessed it) diet and exercise.

The Good News? Christians don't need to diet and exercise to get a perfect body.

In his book, The Case For Easter: A Journalist Investigates the Evidence For The Resurrection, Lee Strobel probes the core issues of Christianity.

Was the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead a superstitious myth or life-changing reality?

Focusing his award-winning skills as a legal journalist on history's most compelling enigma, Strobel retraces the startling findings that led him from atheism to belief.

In his book, Strobel examines:

  • The Medical Evidence--was Jesus' death a sham and his resurrection a hoax?
  • The Evidence of the Missing Body--was Jesus' body really absent from His tomb?
  • The Evidence of Appearance--was Jesus seen alive after His death on the cross?
Based on the historical data, Strobel became convinced the evidence for the resurrection was entirely credible and, in fact, undeniable.

Strobel's verdict? Jesus Christ really is the one and only Son of God, who proved it by rising from the dead.
"But to all who believed Him and received Him, He gave the right to become children of God" -- John 1:12  (emphasis added)
The 3 steps to a perfect body?
Believe + Receive = Become

"Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness. Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next. This is true and everyone should accept it." 1Timothy 4:7-9

"Bill O'Reilly Attacks War on Easter"

The PC police strike again.

First they took the 'Christ' out of Christmas and now they want to ban Easter.

Why? Because nothing outrages secular progressives like the idea of children being exposed to Christianity.

Last week, political commentator Bill O'Reilly said in his Talking Points memo, "The Judeo-Christian tradition is under attack" in certain American public school districts. These institutions are guilty of replacing the traditional Easter celebration with something a little more politically-correct: "Spring Events."

That's right, folks, Easter eggs are out. So's the Easter Bunny. And anything else containing the "E" word.

According to O'Reilly, this is about the secularization of the country. One more step in an ongoing attempt to dismantle the religious heritage of modern America. O'Reilly believes the ultimate goal of the secular progressives is to marginalize religion in all forms. "If the far left can marginalize Santa and the Easter Bunny, they can tell the children those symbols are obsolete and unnecessary and they set the stage for a totally secular society in the future."

O'Reilly's heart is in the right place even if his theology is off. He's worried about the de-Christianizing of the country.

And while most Christians realize Easter and its traditions have pagan roots and use the term "resurrection day" rather than "Easter", Bill O'Reilly's premise is correct: This move by secular progressives is yet another attempt to wipe Christianity out of the minds of our children.

A wise man once said: "Of the many world religions, only one claims that its founder returned from the grave. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the very cornerstone of Christianity. If Jesus overcame the the grave, He's still alive and available for me to personally encounter. If Jesus conquered death, He can  open the door of eternal life for me, too. If He has divine power, He has the supernatural ability to guide and transform me as I follow Him. As my Creator who has my best interests at heart, He rightfully deserves my allegiance and worship." --Lee Strobel,  author of The Case for Easter
