"Are You Being Deceived?"

NEWSFLASH: We are no longer a predominantly Christian society. In fact, anti-Christian sentiment so permeates our public discourse, one would think the mere mention of Christ (except as an expletive) might actually corrupt our brains.

The end result is a people ignorant of biblical truth and polluted by sin.

The pursuit of a secular life without God leaves a spiritual vacuum that will, of necessity, be filled with deception.

Take God out and an empty, lost society will fill the void with something else. Some popular options?

• Drugs
• Alcohol
• Materialism
• Politics
• Environmentalism or some other false religion 

The Bible predicts that a time of spiritual apostacy will precede the end and pave the way for the arrival of the Antichrist.

The word apostacy comes from the Greek word apostasia which means "to defect, or to forsake the faith."

Most scholars believe this apostacy is the product of a false Christianity--people who claim to be Christian, but who don't follow Christ. These counterfeit Christians will have only the appearance of godliness, but will be devoid of the Spirit and the Truth that could save them. They are deceived into believing repentance (a change of heart in regards to Jesus and sin) is unnecessary for salvation.

According to noted theologian J. Hendryx, this issue is so critical that the church in America is in serious danger of becoming the last days Laodicean (aka 'lukewarm') church of Revelation 3...a church that left Jesus on the outside looking in.

"God deals with us personally," Hendryx said, "as those who have transgressed His law, who are hostile and in rebellion against His legitimate authority in our lives. The seriousness of man's fallen condition has often been put aside in modern churches. The casualness of our message to merely "accept Jesus" without helping people to understand our wretched condition, allows many to remain stubbornly unyielding in their sin and pride. This large scale "user-friendly" message in today's evangelical churches has given rise to hollow, unrenewed false converts who still delight in sin. Many in the church are unwilling to give the Lord their allegiance because they have not been born again."
