President Trump brokered a groundbreaking peace treaty between the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Israel.
"We are here this afternoon to change the course of history," the President announced at the White House on Tuesday.
And he wasn't exaggerating. The historic peace deal, dubbed "The Abraham Accord," establishes full diplomatic ties between the key allies of the United States and is expected to eventually include many other Arab nations.
"This is the beginning of a new era of peace for Israel and the wider Arab world," Vice President Mike Pence said.
The truth is this agreement is not only historic, but prophetically significant. As the Bahrain Foreign Affairs Minister said, "We can see before us a golden opportunity for peace, security, and prosperity..."
But can we?
Anyone familiar with Bible prophecy will recognize those words from 1 THESSALONIANS 5:3: "While people are saying there is peace and security, then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."
Many prophecy buffs are wondering if The Abraham Accord is the covenant mentioned in the Book of Daniel in the 70 Weeks Prophecy that will identify the Antichrist and kick off the 7 years of tribulation.
The answer? Not yet. According to the prophecy, the Antichrist doesn't broker the covenant, he confirms it. That means there must be an existing covenant or treaty for the Antichrist to confirm. There hasn't been one for decades, and now (on top of everything else), a peace agreement exists. Read DANIEL 9:27 carefully: "He (the Antichrist) will confirm (strengthen) a covenant (peace agreement) with many (Israel and other Middle Eastern nations) for one week (7 years)." Though the Antichrist is closer than he's ever been before, he is not here yet.
But isn't it interesting that at the very same time certain nations are signing peace deals with Israel, the nations that are mentioned as attacking Israel in Ezekiel 38 (Iran and Turkey) are horrified by the deal?
A wise man once said "We believe that the dramatic elements occurring in the world today are setting the stage for the Antichrist to make his entrance. But there's no point in speculation about his identity. Christ will come first, like a thief in the night. If you have any doubts about your salvation, the time to settle it is now." -- Hal Lindsey, author
"At the end of their rule, when their sin is at its height, a fierce king, a master of intrigue, will rise to power. He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause a shocking amount of destruction and succeed in everything he does. He will destroy powerful leaders and devastate the holy people. He will be a master of deception, defeating many by catching them off guard. Without warning he will destroy them" (DANIEL 8:23-25).
