"Scientists Warn Of Government Doomsday Virus?"

The Pentagon wants to make an army of insects that spread genetically-modified viruses to America's farms.

Their goal?

Food security.

Scientists believe the program is a biological weapon waiting to happen.

According to LIVESCIENCE:
"This is the debate swirling around a controversial new Pentagon research project called "Insect Allies". Funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the project involves using gene-editing techniques like CRISPR to infect insects with modified viruses that could help make America's crops more resilient.
"If a cornfield were hit by an unexpected drought or suddenly exposed to a pathogen, for example, Insect Allies might deploy an army of aphids carrying a genetically-modified virus to slow the corn plants growth rate."
But scientists are skeptical and fear the project could easily be turned into a biological weapon. The international community of scientists are especially concerned.

For instance, Silja Voeneky, a professor at the University of Feiburg in Germany, doesn't like where this project is going.
"In our opinion the justifications are not clear enough. For example, why do they use insects? They could use spraying systems," he said. "To use insects as a vector to spread diseases is a classical bio-weapon."
Insect Allies program manager, Blake Bextine disagrees.
"Any time you're developing a new and revolutionary technology, there is that potential for both offensive and defensive capability. But that is not what we're doing. We are delivering positive traits to plants. We want to make sure we ensure food security, because food security is national security in our eyes."
Still in its early stages of development, Insect Allies recently achieved its first milestone: using an aphid to infect a stalk of corn with a designer virus that causes fluorescence.

They succeeded. "The corn glowed," Bextine said.

Sounds yummy, doesn't it?

A wise man once said: "Ever since Mary Shelley's baron rolled his improved human out of the lab, scientists have been bringing just such good things to life. If they want to sell us Frankenfood, perhaps it's time to gather the villagers, light some torches and head to the castle." -- Paul Lewis, Professor of English, Boston College

"Amazon: Capturing Your Most Intimate Moments?"

It's true, people. Amazon workers really are listening to our "private" conversations. And while we've all suspected it was happening--now we've got it from the horse's mouth.

The company has admitted that not only are they listening in on us, but they're recording and transcribing what they hear.

Bloomberg reports that Amazon has staff around the globe who's only job is transcribing recordings pulled from Echo customers' private conversations.

In an emailed statement to Mail Online, an Amazon spokesperson said:
"We only annotate an extremely small sample of Alexa voice recordings in order to improve the customer experience. For example, this information helps us train our speech recognition and natural language understanding system, so Alexa can better understand your requests, and ensure the service works well for everyone."
Seriously? Did they just say they're recording some of our most private conversations for our own good?

The Daily Mail reported Amazon staff have admitted listening in on people singing in the shower, discussing bank account details, and conducting other intimate exchanges.

But we shouldn't worry because "all information is treated with high confidentiality."

Oh really? But what happens when staffers overhear distressing situations like a child screaming for help, or the two instances when they heard what seemed to be a sexual assault occurring?

Experts say it's only a matter of time before law enforcement is granted access to listen in on us, too.

And if you thought you were off the hook because you don't own an Alexa--think again. It's likely Apple and Google use similar protocol with human reviewers eavesdropping on content from Siri and Assistant.

And while you're at it--proceed with caution regarding any device sporting a microphone or a camera (such as Echo Spot or even your smart phone). Big Brother now has big ears, big eyes and a long reach.

A wise man once said: "It's likely that laws will be passed that will allow police to remotely activate these devices and eavesdrop on suspects, pretty much as described in the book 1984." -- Robert Graham, security consultant

"The Last Enemy"

See the source image
"We shouldn't be surprised that history's most important event is also its most spectacular," contends N.T. Wright, a conservative theologian.

And what might that be, you ask? The Resurrection, of course. And yet, a Psephizo poll found that barely 60% of those who identify as Christian (but do not attend church) believe in it.

In his book, The Last Enemy, Michael E. Whittmer boldly insists The Resurrection is the single most profound fact of Christianity.

"The Resurrection is more than the defining miracle that proves Jesus is God and the Gospel is true. Paul declares that The Resurrection is a vital piece of the Gospel in 1st Corinthians:
"And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless, and you are still under condemnation for your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ have perished! And if we have hope in Christ only for this life, we are the most miserable people in the world" (1 Corinthians 15:17-19).
So is The Resurrection of Jesus Christ a real, historical event?

"Archaeological discoveries continue to support the Bible's historical accuracy," writes Jack Zavada in his article, 7 Proofs of the Resurrection. "We tend to forget that the Gospels and the book of Acts are eyewitness accounts of the life and death of Jesus. And that includes the crowd of more than 500 eyewitnesses who saw the risen Lord all at the same time, most of whom were still alive when these accounts were written."

Zavada details the many non-biblical historical 1st Century writers that testify to the events surrounding The Resurrection, as well: Flavius Josephus, Cornelius Tacitus, Lucian of Samosata and even the Jewish Sanhedrin, to name a few.

The bottom line? If The Resurrection didn't happen, neither did our salvation.
"But the fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead. He has become the first of a great harvest of those who will be raised to life again" (1 Corinthians 15:20).
A wise man once said: "The Last Enemy is death. You can't beat death, but you know someone who has. Rest in Jesus, the God who shared your humanity so He might destroy death from the inside out." -- Michael E. Whittmer

"What Kind Of A Person Are You?"

According to a recent poll, 81% of American adults believe in heaven, while only 69% believe in hell.

And (according to the poll) almost everyone who believes in heaven expects to go there when they die.

The irony? While belief in heaven has been rapidly rising, belief in God is steadily declining.

However, if you were to look up the definition of heaven this is what you'd find: a place regarded in various religions as the abode of God, divine beings, and saved souls.

No God = No heaven. No wonder the world is messed up.

The truth? "...it is just as the Scriptures say, 'What God has planned for people who love Him is more than eyes have seen or ears have heard. It has never even entered our minds!'" (1 Corinthians 2:4).
In other words, heaven will be beyond human imagination.

According to Got Questions.org:
"It is interesting that a much higher percentage of people believe in the existence of heaven than believe in the existence of hell. According to the Bible, though, hell is just as real as heaven. The Bible clearly and explicitly teaches that hell is a real place to which the wicked/unbelieving are sent after death. We have all sinned against God (Romans 3:23). The just punishment for that sin is death (Romans 6:23). Since all of our sin is ultimately against God (Psalm 51:4), and since God is an infinite and eternal Being, the punishment for sin--death--must also be infinite and eternal."
Scripture very clearly teaches that an absolutely perfect righteousness is necessary for entry into heaven. Jesus said, "I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven' (Matthew 5:20). He then added, "You must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect" (vs.48)-thus setting the standard as high as it can possibly be set. We are all corrupted by our sin-nature and unfit for eternal life in heaven with a Holy God. Justice requires adequate payment for crimes committed. The problem? We're not capable of adequate payment. Only God's perfect blood is non-corrupted and adequate.

The solution? God sent His perfect Son  to shed His non-corrupted blood for us on the cross, as our substitute. Receive the solution, go to heaven. Reject it & you will be required to pay the price yourself.

The choice is yours.

A wise man once said: "There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, ' Thy will be done'; and those to whom God says in the end, 'Thy will be done.' All that are in Hell, choose it." -- C.S. Lewis
"The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18).
