"Summertime Predictions: Things Are Heating Up"

"A vast swath of North America, from the Great Lakes to the West Coast, is at risk of blackouts this summer as heat, drought, shuttered power plants and supply-chain woes strain the electric grid," reports Bloomberg.

And then there's this: "U.S. natural gas prices have more than doubled this year and they could soar another 25% or more this summer in the hotter weather," according to CNBC.

Meanwhile, fuel prices have risen to all-time highs leaving consumers grappling with record high gas prices that are projected to go much higher this summer. In fact, a national gas station chain, 76, is reprogramming its pumps to accomodate $10/ gallon gas, according to confirmed reports.

The rising cost of fuel, especially diesel, means that anything transported on a truck, train or ship will also cost more. In other words, expect to pay more for everything this summer.

On a brighter note, officials were getting increasingly anxious about an expected surge of illegals pouring over the U.S.-Mexico border if a Trump-era pandemic restriction known as Title 42 was allowed to end on May 23. Thankfully, a coalition of two dozen Red States sued to prevent that from happening-and won (if only temporarily). The administration vows to appeal and believes this is only a short delay. 

The head of the U.S. Border Patrol paints a grim picture of "staggering numbers" flooding an already overwhelmed system if the administration wins on appeal. Dan Stein, President of the Federation For American Immigration Reform issued this statement:

"The Biden administration's decision to end Title 42 without an adequate back-up plan is yet another example of their contempt for public health, safety, and national sovereignty. This is an unprecedented invitation to chaos..."

One of many it seems.

"Is The World Being Dragged Into WWIII?"

"Vladimir Putin warns he will use nukes against the West in a 'lightning fast' strike if anyone interferes in Ukraine," reports The U.S. Sun.

And Putin went on to say, "We have all the weapons we need for this. No one else can brag about these weapons, and we won't brag about them.

"But we will use them," he said.

Mad Vlad appears to be bragging-again. But why resort to nuclear weapons when he could take us down without any damage at all to our natural resources?

Imagine, if you will, the power going down-not just at your house, but across several states. And not just for a few days, but for multiple weeks or even months.

In his book, Lights Out, investigative reporter Ted Koppel lays out just such a scenario.

Only, according to Ted, it isn't just a scenario.

"A major cyber attack on America's power grid is not only possible, but likely."

The devastation would include:

• no running water
• no sewage
• no refrigeration or lights
• a lack of food/medical supplies
• no banks
• widespread looting and deteriorating law and order

 "A well-designed attack on just one of the nation's three electric power grids could cripple much of our infrastructure", says Koppel.

"And in the age of cyber-warfare, a laptop has become the only necessary weapon."

"Several nations hostile to the United States could launch such an assault at any time," he said.

"In fact, China and Russia have already penetrated the grid," according to a former Chief Scientist of the NSA. "They can take us down with a keystroke."

And then there's the independent actors like 'hacktivists' (not to mention terrorists!) that have the capability as well.

"It's not a question of if," said current Secretary of Defense General Lloyd Austin, "it's a question of when."

And yet, (surprise, surprise) the federal government HAS NO PLAN (unless you consider Homeland Security's warning to 'have extra batteries and a transistor radio a 'plan').

"The United States is shockingly unprepared," Koppel laments.

"While well-prepared for natural disasters, (the government) has no plan for the aftermath of an attack on the power grid," he said, and wonders how (or if) "the civilian population will survive."

Koppel's advice? "Take matters into your own hands. Prepare now for a catastrophe that is all but inevitable."
