"Real-Life Demon Possession?"

Anyone who's read the Bible knows there are several accounts in it regarding demon possession.

Indiana officials are reporting an account of their own.

That's right...a child services caseworker, a nurse, a Catholic priest, and even a police captain all claim to be eyewitnesses of a real-life demon possession.

It began in November of 2011when the Ammons family (no, we don't mean the Addams family) moved into a rental house on Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana.

Things got spooky right away. There were swarms of flies, wet footprints and strange noises in the basement, among many other creepy things.

The 32-year old mother, Latoya Ammons, and all three of her children began to show signs of being possessed.

One terrifying night, Latoya and some visiting friends heard screams from the 12-year old daughter's room.

When they rushed in to investigate, the girl was levitating above her bed, unconscious.

Horrified, they began to pray and the girl eventually descended with no memory of the incident.

Unable to move out of the house (due to finances), the family called for help: the Catholic Church and some clairvoyants.

The clairvoyants said the house was haunted by more than 200 demons. The Catholic Church sent a priest to exorcise  them. Indiana Child Protective Services were brought in.

Case manager, Valerie Washington, claims the youngest boy flashed her a 'weird grin" and then (apparently channeling his inner Michael Jackson) moon-walked backward up a wall to the ceiling. (btw, MJ was also from Gary, Indiana).

A nurse corroborated Washington's story. Gary police were called in to investigate.

After making several visits to the home and interviewing witnesses, some of the officers were too scared to stay at the house. Other city officials refused to step foot on the property.

Gary Police Captain Charles Austin said it was the "strangest story he had ever heard," and initially he thought it was an elaborate hoax to make money.

Not anymore. After going to the house himself and talking to those involved, Austin now says, "I am a believer."

Many of these events are detailed in nearly 800 pages of official records obtained by the Indianapolis Star newspaper and recounted in more than a dozen interviews with police, DCS personnel, psychologists, and the Catholic priest who performed the exorcism.

"Global Weirding?"

2013 will go down in history as the driest year ever recorded in the state of California.

...and there's no rain in sight.

Yeah...so, what?

No H20 = no produce. And guess where most of the US produce comes from?

Turns out, California produces:

  • 99% of the artichokes grown in the US
  • 95% of the celery
  • 89% of the cauliflower
  • 90% of the iceberg lettuce
  • 83% of Romaine lettuce
  • 83% of spinach
  • 94% of broccoli
  • 1/3 of fresh tomatoes
  • 95% of canned tomatoes
  • 44% of asparagus
  • 20% of cabbage
  • 2/3 of carrots
  • 50% of all bell peppers
Let them eat fruit, you say?

Not so fast...

Seems California has pretty much cornered that market, too, producing:
  • 90% of the avacados
  • 86% of the lemons
  • 84% of the peaches
  • 88% of the strawberries
  • 97% of the plums
  • 1/4 of the oranges
According to the US Drought Monitor, 94.25% of the state is experiencing drought conditions, while most of the prime agriculture area of the Central Valley is in extreme drought.

And that ain't all, folks.

Some particularly pessimistic experts claim the western US is entering a dry spell that could last decades.

"Secret Deal or Blatant Lie?"

Iran's chief negotiator, Abbas Araqchi, spilled the beans on a secret nuke deal during a Persian-language interview on Monday. (Apparently, he didn't realize we've got translators).

According to The Los Angeles Times, "key elements of a new nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers (including the US) are contained in an informal, 30-page text not yet publicly acknowledged by western officials."

Not only was it not "publicly acknowledged", it was blatantly denied by the State Department.

And with good reason.

The 'secret side deal' (if true) allows Iran to continue its nuclear research and development program virtually unhindered.

The Times reports some of the (alleged) details of this 'secret' pact:

  • No Iranian nuclear facilities will be closed
  • Enrichment will continue
  • Nuclear research will be expanded
  • all research into a new generation of centrifuges will continue
What do the six world powers get out of the deal?

A big, fat zero according to Araqchi, who referred to the secret deal or side agreement using the English word non paper,  a diplomatic term used for an informal agreement that doesn't have to be disclosed publicly.

A State Department spokeswoman, Marie Harf, denied that there was any secret agreement.

"Any documentation associated with implementation tracks completely with what we've described," she said.

Let's get this straight:

Iran is bragging (in Persian) that they've gotten everything they want while giving up nothing in a secret (non paper) deal.

The US State Department flatly denies the whole notion of a secret pact and claims the deal they signed is strictly on the up and up.

Something's rotten, folks. And it ain't in Denmark.

"Rabbi Predicts Messiah's Imminent Return"

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is (as of this writing) fighting for his life. UPDATE: Ariel Sharon passed away this morning, Saturday, January 11th.

Why should you care?

Because 8 years ago, a 108-year old rabbi predicted Messiah would reveal Himself...after Sharon's death.

Fast forward to 2014.

The rabbi is dead and 85-year old Sharon has been in a coma for eight years.

It all began back in 2005 when the renowned rabbi (and Kabbalist) Yitzhak Kaduri claimed to have met the Jewish Messiah in a vision and was told He'd arrive after the death of Ariel Sharon.

Before the rabbi's own death on January 28, 2006, he left a sealed, handwritten note to his followers with the instructions to wait one year after his death before opening it.

Detailed in a book, "The Rabbi Who Found Messiah" by Carl Gallups, the note left by Rabbi Kaduri is extremely controversial. (We have not read this book and are not promoting it, but found the premise interesting).

While intriguing, this note is definitely cryptic. Rather than simply stating the name of Messiah, the note contains a verse with the acronym for the Hebrew name Yehoshua (translated Joshua or Jesus).

Naturally, this caused a stir in Jewish circles and many Christians came to the conclusion he meant Jesus Christ.

Maybe he did. But if Rabbi Kaduri had wanted to be unambiguous (instead of puzzling and mysterious) all he needed to do was add "of Nazareth". Which in Hebrew amounts to only 4 letters.

One more clue, according to the author Carl Gallups: "Some months prior to the note's appearance on Kaduri's website, and prior to Kaduri's death, the ominous and prophetic words of one of his many Messiah utterances was posted":
"Many have known his name but have not believed that he is the Messiah."

"And there you have it," Gallups continued.

"Many have known Messiah's name."

When Kaduri said 'Many', he was speaking to the Jews among whom he ministered. Kaduri said, "they have known his name--but they have not believed it."

Gallups went on to say:
"Kaduri said this about the name of the Messiah long before the controversial note was revealed! And thus the story and the controversy remains until the coming of the Messiah."

So is Gallups right about Kaduri?

We are skeptical of all extra-Biblical prophecy. Though we know for a fact, Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah, we wonder if a Kabbalist mystic would be an appropriate messenger.

"2014 Predictions"

Every new year brings with it a plethora of prognosticators and this year is no exception.

The common thread? Extremes.

  • Extreme financial woes
  • Extreme weather (climate change)
  • Extreme (and ever-vague) earth changes.
Looking for a rogue comet? asteroid? planet? or wave? Doomsday enthusiasts are crawling with 'em.

And here's a new one: "The Chaos Cloud" (the what?) scheduled to wipe us out on June 1st @ precisely 9:15 a.m. EST.

Google, and you'll find page after page of relentless, mind-numbing doom and gloom slated for this coming year.

Let's face it gang, for many 2014 is just one great big disaster waiting to happen. As one particularly dire YouTube video put it:
"2014 is where we'll be left to eat anything or anyone in our path."
(oh, sure, it's all fun and games until somebody gets eaten!)

So how do we separate fact from fiction?

  • nix the Magic 8 balls
  • stop lookin' for truth in all the wrong places
  • understand the 100% accuracy rate of Bible prophecy
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is woven with predictions. In fact, more than 1/4 of the Bible is prophecy. Most of them (roughly 80%) have already been fulfilled exactly as prophesied.

These fulfilled prophecies told the story of God's Chosen People and their Messiah before it happened.

How better to prove God's existence and power over world events than to tell history in advance?

The rest of the prophetic scriptures zero in on...you guessed it: the end times.

As current events line up with uncanny precision exactly as the Bible predicts, it actually takes more faith not to believe.

Bible prophecy is the vehicle God chose to authenticate His message.

And what is His message, you ask?

That He gave His Son (His only Son whom He loved), so that whosoever believed in Him could have everlasting life together with Him in heaven. (John 3:16)

The reason?

Because...as a wise man once said:
"Eternal existence belongs to everyone. The only question is location, location, location."    --Amir Tsarfati, Bible teacher
